Andy Roddick has dumped coach Brad Gilbert.
Doubtful the boy will go all Federer-style-coachless next year, as speculation on new coaches has started: Jim Courier, Todd Martin, and USTA coach Dean Goldfine (who’s reportedly been offered the job already). I seem to recall hearing that Martin’s coaching another top 10’er next year though.
Embarrassing roadshow for the ATP: They have Roddick, Fish, and the Bryans in Minneapolis tomorrow signing autographs at a Sam Goody record store at the Mall of America.

I just remembered who Martin's coaching: Mardy Fish.
It all makes sense now. -

Re: Can Roddick Do it Coachless
Tue, December 14, 2004 - 12:57 PMI think Roddick is a one slam wonder. Maybe that's because I don't like him, but I'll back it up by saying I don't think Gilbert was the problem. I think he helped Andy win the tournaments he did last year and the one slam he has. I think Roddick is frustrated that he can't break through as often at the bigger tournaments, especially the slams, so he is pulling his usual histrionics and doing something dramatic. I think he thought the power serve and whacking the ball into oblivion was enough to win like Federer.
Think again!
